Almost full. No color cast tonight, wonder what that means.

At my sister's house in the Maryland countryside. Way less light polution in this rural location, I can even see star clusers and the all important horizon. Or at least trees on the horizon and not 40 foot buildings. I kind of wish I would have lugged my heavy 300mm tele. Such is life.
Getting late for this old man to be out taking photos of the moon. But I like the result.

Sunday, September 18, 2011. I think I will retire and just take photos of the moon. Tomorrow will be too late for an old guy with a job to be out at midnight taking photos of the moon.
October 8, 2011, Philadelphia, PA 7:15 PM. Third straight night in a row the moon is up and I can see it through somewhat clear skys. The closer to FULL the lesser the detail.
Sunday night 10-9-11 Update: Monday night cloud cover means no shot of the moon. I was rolling along at 4 days in a row.
Sunday night 11:30 PM October 16, 2011. Even if the weather provides a favorable sky tomorrow it will be past my bed time to be out taking photos of the moon. Damn shame!
It's not often I am able to shoot this critter at dusk. Usually the sun has set and the color has gone from the sky. But tonight at 5.47 PM I dragged my gear down the stairs and set up shop in the back yard. (For all of about 10 min.) As a kid I thought of the creaters as round impact impressions. As an old man I know that the chunks of space stuff that made those impressions are hardly round.
Love the detail tonight. I cropped the bestest part.
I'ts dark when I leave for work, it's dark when I come home. So the moon is the only thing that has enough light to shoot. Getting close to to a full moon, tonight it's 94%.
Tuesday, November 8, 2011. 97% full and still quite abit of detail available. Another clear night for the Moon Doggie.
This is about as full as it gets, 99%.
